🌊 performant → stream large data sets

⚖️ scale predictably → offload bursty ($$) server pressure

Aidem, AdTech

Aidem delivers precision-targeted ads to real people, ensuring your message reaches the exact individual you want—no wasted impressions, no bots, just genuine human connections.

For political advertising Aidem built The Terminal, to access real-time insights into voter behavior and sentiment combining detailed demographic data, voting history, and behavioral media/content consumption across TV and the web.

Think of it as ACR for articles - you get a real-time view of what voters are consuming, allowing to tailor messages with laser precision on all devices (mobile, desktop, and CTV). If you ask yourself “Are key demographics shifting their media habits?”, “Are they responding to certain issues?”, “Are they consuming content that aligns with your messaging?”, the Aidem Terminal provides both the answers and the execution capabilities to leverage the shifting tides.

Aidem’s customers need the ability to discover patterns, insights and ideas across data sets measured in petabytes, while being able to target very specific subsets – this requires the ability to reason against an entire data set, not just samples.

Why Perspective

User Experience (UX) is paramount – while interrogating data, asking and answering questions without breaking the flow means NOT having to wait minutes for each iterative pivot/sort/filter…

Aidem had two discrete challenges:

1st: showcase a data set measured in petabytes (100s columns x trillions rows).

2nd: enable customers to find insights, ideas, and perform analysis while showing as much of the shape of the data as possible.

Given these challenges, information density is important.

With Perspective, Aidem is able to immediately showcase the shape of the data. Customers can activate all of the filters, all the groupings, all the cardinality of every single column and everything just works.

From that density, customers can quickly iterate across ideas until they get to a point where they’ve discovered a unique insight to leverage.

It wasn’t only a function of time, cost or efficiency gains with Perspective, but the ability to ship a capability that would have been impossible otherwise.

For the product's use case, real-time and complete datasets are crucial, especially when targeting specific demographics or geographic regions. Sampling data is insufficient when all data points are necessary for accurate decision-making and analysis

Customer Experience

Aidem’s customers are moderately technical folks who are familiar with their field of programmatic digital advertising but not generally accustomed to advanced BI tools.

Perspective’s user interface allowed customers to quickly adapt by recognizing familiar data structures and columns, despite the complexity of the data available for analysis.  They were able to easily navigate, and understand what they were looking at because it aligned with how they thought about their domain (e.g., programmatic digital advertising).

The simplicity of the interface allowed them to experiment with the data by "pressing all the buttons" and discovering insights without needing to be deeply technical.

For example, for advertisers looking to reach a very targeted voting demographic, especially in the case where just a few voters  will have an impact, it is paramount to analyze all the data, all the time.

Aidem’s customers are looking to identify patterns and connect with individuals at a much more granular level (i.e. state, congressional district, demographic…), and wouldn’t be able to make those connections if they had to sacrifice the information density to begin with.

Part of the ‘magic’ Aidem’s customers have experienced is the ability to reason over these large datasets (up to 100 gigabytes) in a web browser without the need for high-end infrastructure.
